Published Sep 30

SANTA CRUZ — An Oakland woman accused of hitting a 70-year-old Las Lomas man as he was crossing Pacific Avenue in Aug pleaded not guilty Mon to a charge of leaving the scene of the accident, a felony.

The man, longtime Soquel business owner Adolfo Adolf Galvan, remained in a coma for eleven days later before dying on Sept. four from injuries he suffered when hit by a white Nissan Frontier allegedly driven by Joanna Steele, 29.

Steele faces a maximum three-year sentence on her felony charge, Peinado said.

It seems like almost everybody we run into has a different story about my dad, Dorothy Galvan said. It’s pretty cool how numerous lives he touched.
